Wart treatment

Plantar warts are skin growths on the sole caused by a virus. They can hurt under pressure and sometimes linger after home treatments. We assess the area first, then discuss the options. SWIFT microwave therapy is one treatment we use for suitable plantar warts.

What we look at

A thorough, practical assessment

  • Where the wart is, how long it has been there and whether it is painful
  • Previous treatments, including pharmacy products or freezing
  • Overlying hard skin and how much pressure the area takes when you walk
  • Whether SWIFT or another approach is the better fit for you

How we can help

A plan that fits your circumstances

  • Checking that the lesion is consistent with a plantar wart
  • Reducing overlying hard skin when that is needed before treatment
  • SWIFT microwave therapy, applied in short bursts, when it is appropriate
  • A review plan, because plantar warts often need more than one visit
